Engine Models

These pages provide a living technical record of the engine definitions being developed with TurboFanModel. They can be updated as parameters, component maps, validation results, and test status change while remaining part of the main project website.

Operational baseline / re-baselining

CFM56-7B24

The CFM56-based model is the current operational baseline used in TurboFanLab and FlightGear development. It already uses a five-component map set derived from OpenMDAO pyCycle HBTF/NPSS data. The next step is a formal CFM56-7B24 public-data audit and re-scaling using the same traceability rules applied to the GE90.

Reference-engine demonstration in development

GE90-115B

The GE90-115B model is being constructed from public source data and NASA/pyCycle component-map methods. The master parameter set is being established before component-map conversion, TurboFanLab validation, and subsequent aircraft-level testing.

Common method

Published, calculated, estimated, tuned

Each model is intended to distinguish direct public-source values from derived calculations, engineering estimates, and values tuned during validation. Generic component maps are treated as aerodynamic source surfaces and are scaled or adjusted to the engine-specific design targets rather than represented as proprietary manufacturer maps.
